On Sunday morning, reduced visibility due to fog meant that the warm-up sessions had to be cancelled. However, the skies cleared for the OK-Junior Prefinals of the WSK Super Master Series at Franciacorta, which started on time in a temperature of 6° after three formation laps.
Prefinal A
Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) kept the lead at the end of the race, while Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) dropped back to 4th. Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) and Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) completed the top three. Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) was back in 4th place, Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex) was given a 3″ penalty. The fastest driver on the track, Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame), gained places in 7th place. Antonov took the lead on lap 5 ahead of Wherrell and Martinese. Martinese then took 2nd place while Vivek Kanthan (Parolin/TM) was 4th. Martinese led for a short while, but Antonov took over from Wherrell and Bondarev in a tightly packed trio. The battle intensified in the last laps with several changes of leader. Martinese won in front of Antonov and Bondarev. Wherell finished 4th, Schaufler 5th.
Prefinal B
Salim Hanna Hernandez (LN/Vortex) followed Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) at the start, Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) was 3rd ahead of Scott Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM). Costoya moved up to 2nd place, Filippo Sala (Sodi/TM) was soon in the top five. Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) sank to the bottom of the pack, Sacha Avril (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 21st place set the fastest lap. Costoya took the lead on lap 5, followed by Sala and Lindblom. The positions were reversed in the top three at the halfway point with Sala leading, Lindblom 2nd and Costoya 3rd. The Swede put pressure on the Italian who resisted. This led to a grouping of nine drivers behind the two leaders in the middle of the race. Sala won brilliantly against Lindblom, subsequently penalised in 13th place. Then Costoya secured 2nd place ahead of Kaczynski and Luna Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame). Alp Askoy (Tony Kart/Vortex) climbed 12 places to 8th position. Avril was 18th (+9 pl.) and Cochet finished 26th.
